Drone assault on Putin’s residency is act of terrorism— Russian officials
Moscow revealed that the Ukrainian military launched 91 long-range kamikaze drones overnight at Putin’s residence in the Novgorod Region. All drones were intercepted by air defenses. The Kremlin described the “reckless terrorist actions” as unacceptable and warned they “will, naturally, not be without consequences, [without] the most serious response.” Reports indicate that US President Donald Trump said he was “very angry” about the incident. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has strongly denied responsibility.
In response to media reports suggesting Zelensky sought to distance himself from the attack, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Telegram that his previous remarks on events such as the Bucha civilian massacre and claims of “children allegedly stolen by Russia” were “lies.” She added that these lies also include “Zelensky’s statements about the alleged unwillingness of the Russian side to conduct negotiations,” emphasizing that the “Kiev regime” will be held accountable for all its actions.
Leonid Slutsky, leader of the LDPR party, also condemned the strike, describing it as “an act of state terrorism” and evidence of “the agony and complete degradation of the Zelensky regime.” He accused the European “party of war” of being the regime’s “direct accomplices” and argued that “the handwriting of the terrorists does not change,” connecting the attack to previous provocations surrounding earlier negotiations.
Slutsky further asserted that the latest attack occurred “after the actual failure of Zelensky’s plan in Florida in talks with [US President Donald] Trump” and represented “a provocation not only against Russia, but also an undermining of the American side’s peace efforts.”
